Hello dear Mr. J.M. Laughin
I am looking forward to listening to you in Juan les Pins this summer…
every year I come from Chamonix Mont-Blanc where I work as a glaciologist, to Juan les Pins to listen to the best, because the musical atmosphere with the heat and the cicadas intoxicates me, it’s magic. I don’t need to drink or smoke… Every year I hope to see you on the program, I knew you there in 1985… I scratch the guitar a little but your rhythms are crazy! I can’t wait to be there, especially after this epic time… long live music long live yours, let’s send good energy to those who need it… LM
I saw you two times, one in Le Mans, with Khai Eckardt and Trilok Gurtu,1988, amazing ! and in « Jazz sous les Pommiers « , Coutances , I play jazz and Blues guitar, but seeing you !!!I was like a « poor lonesome cowboy »
Thanks for all you do, in the past, and today also !
you’re in my mind (with Jimi ), forever….
Ever since you elevated Tribute to Jack Johnson to another place that even blew Miles away (just based on listening to how he was so responsive) I have been grateful for your being here.
But this noodling around that you’ve done to Monks piece, technically impressive as it is, sounds to my ears like about 10,000 other bands who rotate through solos so everybody can show off- soul and humor of the music be damned.
Slick….too slick. Master I suggest you spend a day in a quiet room listening to Thelonious and his floppy fingers, with your eyes closed and a smile on your face. For ME, that’s still the best way to ‘get’ Monk.
Warm best wishes.
Unbelievable you are always there… thanks for all the pleasure of the beauty that you have given since i was 10 years old until today with 63 … thank you.
Quite simply Mr John McLaughlin is the greatest guitarist alive on our planet and, next to Miles Davis, the most inspirational musician ever. He is a force of nature and I have been privileged to have seen him three times and, hope to see him in concert again.
