I’m so fortunate to have seen this band LIVE! And to top it off, meet these legends! Can’t wait to hear it!!
Hello John;
My name is Mickey. I was fortunate to have met you many years ago in Houston, Texas. It was a magical night you and your three piece group enchanted the entire city and the heavens (I’m being sincere). It was at Rockefeller’s; an old and small venue with a small stage. Afterwards, I came backstage, met you, and was able to verbally express my infinite regards and blessings for the enjoyment and encouragement I have received from your music since “Birds of Fire. You’re returning to Houston April 1st with another late sixties; early seventies denizen who helped to forge the musical foundations of the world’s consciousness: Chick Corea (Return to Forever). As a musician myself; you both are cornerstones of the ethereal edifice, I have been constructing since I began playing tenor saxophone at age nineteen; in college; in 1971.
I will be attending the concert; without a doubt. I am requesting your assistance in being able to get choice seats and once again having the pleasure and honor of meeting you personally. It’s been more than fifteen years since and I’ve missed you. Our friendship is infinite and eternal.
Most importantly; is there anything I can do or assist you and yours; while you are here in Houston? Consider me: “ON Call”.
Mahavishnu; I remain your constant and most ardent supporter and one that your “good” has blessed most.
Sincerely;
Mickey
Man that art work make a great looking t-shirt.
Just received the CD today. Amazing!! That joyful evening in The Hague on November 3rd 2008 relives. Thank you for the music I can’t get enough of.
This is one of the most amazing live albums ever! You can really appreciate the evolution of this shamans of music. The musical communication they maintain with every note they play is just magnificent.
I was very fortunate to see John and Chick playing together with this fantastic band when they came to Berkeley, it was absolutely special. I can now rest in peace after seeing the 5 peace band.
john, i handed a piece of my artwork (of you) back in 1973 ish , to you at the edge of the stage during a mahavishnu concert held at the toledo ohio sports arena. you took it walked over to a roadie ,handed it to him & finished the show. my address & ph# were on it! it was a depiction of you playing your double neck in stipling. i had hoped to hear from you! you & django were my music heroes! i actually went out & bought a sunburst les paul & no amp, and no musical knowledge and tried to sound like you. so 36 yrs later i’m wondering if during your internet chat time , (assuming that you recall that evening) you might e-mail me your thoughts on my gift to you & visit my web site and see the art i’ve been painting for the last 36 yrs . thankyou for your time -mark
