Electric Dreams – 1979

Solo decir que admiro mucho el arte y la obra de JMcL. Genio!
HI everyone! I had the privilege to spend some time and have dinner with John during one concert date in Genoa in late 80’s, and own this album since the day it was released back in 1977, on top of others.
John’s musical heritage is vaste and I would like to thank him for all nice music he composed and interpreted.
I was 16 years old when John came to the city of Curitiba in Brazil in 1979. Egberto Gismonti would make the opening. I lived near the auditorium and there was a small square in front. A friend called me and said that they were making the sound passage, … from the square I could hear L. Shankar / eletric violin, Fernando Saunders / bass and Alyrio Lima / Percussion? making a tremendous trip sound, something that I had never heard before. My heart was beating with emotion, it was a revelation, another dimension which I had never experienced. It was almost time for lunch and we had to go home. Then as I was walking through the small square, I saw a group of men and I could see John McLaughlin wearing a brown suit with those cowboy friezes !!! I wanted to run and ask for an autograph, but I was paralyzed … because after all I had seen God. We didn’t have cell phones and selfies that time … so it stayed in my heart and mind forever. And I tell the story to friends for decades! Thank you Blessed John McLaughlin!
