Dear Friends,
just a quick note to let you know that I’ve been writing a lot of music in the past couple of months. I should also tell you that I had no intention of writing any music, nor recording a new CD. But lo and behold, it all came without warning, and I will now go into the studio in November to record with Gary Husband, Mark Mondesir, and our new bassist, Etienne M’Bappe.
Some of you may recall Etienne in one of the last incarnations of the Joe Zawinul Syndicate.
I’m very happy to have Etienne in the band. He’s not only an amazing bassist and musician, but a great human being.
I’ll be updating this news with more information pretty soon. This will be a very special recording.
Yours always in music,
john

I have seen John 2 times in 2008, first in Udine and with the Five Peace Band in Milan (both in Italy…guess I’m in luck.
Go John Go…we are all waiting.
New York City needs the 4th Dimension! Here’s hoping we get to see you again.
It would be wonderful if you gave a concert back in your native Yorkshire.
PS Karen Armstrong has long impressed Me.
And reading the poetry of the sufi mystics[ Rumi-comes to mind].
Forgive my impertenance but may I suggest « Mystical Dimentions of Islam » , Annemarie Schimmel-University of North Carolina Press.
Best Wishes, A Fellow Yorkshieman.
Hopefully again « some raunchy » shit », John (like Mr. Miles Davis said when you were recording Jack Johnson). Love your music!
Can’t wait. I’ve been following you since My Goal’s Beyond which I still adore and your music just gets better every year!
John- Thank you for continuing to bless us with your genius. And thank you, Ina, for encouraging John. You are both wonderful! Please come to Minnesota again. We love you!
World Peace! Tim
I absolutely loved your DVD The Making of Floating Point. Ranjit Barot instantly became one of my favorite drummers and the electric mandolin work on the DVD I found to be nothing short of miraculous. I sure hope you will return to Chennai and record some more music with that lineup. The hindu influence is my favorite aspect of your work and the recording made in India is so soaked with the « feel » of India that one can almost imagine oneself being there personally. Kudos to all the great Indian musicians on the album and I am so grateful to have had a glimpse into how your recordings come together. Please more from India ,John. You must be the most formidable Honorary Hindu the West has ever produced
any chance of you performing in South Africa love all your music especially five peace band & shakti
I have been listening to Horowitz in the car. That is about all I can tolerate aside from you on the stage. You better start thinking about getting back to the states.
Thanks again John ! I’m looking forward to hearing & buying your new works… Not only are you the greatist guitarist to me But the greatest composer on earth ! I’m looking forward to your multiple time signatures, great melodies and riffs … along with your super charged super skilled playing ! Ever since I heard your compositions.. Marbles in 1972..your Between Nothingness & Eternity lp and your Visions Of The Emerald Beyond lp I’ve been convinced you are a serious , multi-skilled composer and phenomenal player ! That’s the reason I call you Timing Master and Fred Astaire Fingers x 10 ! Go ahead John ! Also after buying your 4th Dimension dvd I see & hear you got a super ( tireless it seems ) drummer and keyboard player. I know you always pick the best musicians … Your music calls for them ! GOD bless you again ! your friend/fan Jerry Fretto
Lovely to hear that! Your music is truely inspiring. I’d love to hear you live again. It’s been so long since you visited Scandinavia. Couldn’t you come and play in Copenhague or Malmö in Sweden, please 🙂

Sweet, can’t wait for the new CD, good luck!
Can’t wait to see you in the LA area. I saw you in the 70’s at the santa monica civic aud with the mahavishnu orch. When do you think you might tour the new cd in LA?
Hi John,
I seen you recently with your 5 Peace band in Boston. It was great to see you have so much fun! The band was RIGHT ON!
Quick Question? Are you ever planning on touring with Paco and Al again? I was too young when you did in the past and would love to see this.
And as weird as this sounds, is there any possiblity you can ever play Zappa cover tunes, possibly with Dweezil.
And finally, have you ever played with Joe Satriani, or Steve Vai
I know this sound crazy, but I would love to see any or all of these combinations since you are my favorite guitarist.
Peace to you and love
Joe from Middletown CT
We have a great stage to play at in Middletown
New York City loves you!!!! Cant wait until The Fourth Dimension visits again.
Hello master John, I’ve read about art as an act of resistance in some of Gilles Delleuze’s conferences, and your playing seems to me the most resistant, most joyfully and misteriously resistant music I’ve ever heard. You do play guitar like a monster and a hero. Will you come and play here in my country, I mean Argentina? Buenos Aires has beautiful women, and some jazz clubs that you would enjoy. Thank you! With love, Tomas 2/12/09, Bs. As.
John,
Thank you for a evening of beautiful music last night at the HOB, in Boston.
It was certainly a night to remember.
By all means…please come back soon!
Peace
