True ARTists are always way ahead of their audience &amp; it&#039;s normal to  hear odd things from critics about ART in general &amp; the great people who deserve to be called ARTists no matter what the platform in particular. 
Mozart, Mussorgsky, Stravinsky, Anton Webern, Shostakovitch, Steve Reich...all have been ahead of their time &amp; it really doesn&#039;t matter what the critics have to say. The important sacred event is that our planet needs among myriad of gifts great ART; MUSIC included.
William Shakespeare once wrote in his play 
The Merchant of Venice:
&quot;The man that hath no music in himself, Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, Is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils; The motions of his spirit are dull as night And his affections dark as Erebus: Let no such man be trusted. Mark the music.&quot;
