People were still going on about the NH7 Weekender and Megadeth’s head-lining performance there, but they constituted only a section of the assembled multitudes at the Dalhousie Institute on Tuesday evening because those metal heads-on-a-holiday were out in force to catch arguably the greatest jazz guitarist of his generation.

The news that John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension would be performing in the city as part of a world tour for their just-released album Black Light had been enough to set jazz enthusiasts buzzing for the last few weeks. That frenzied excitement was on ample display as one entered the club grounds, with people milling about in droves.
