Marbles was a track from Carlos Santana with Buddy Miles Carlos & Buddy live .
Marbles is about the best melody , groove & riff I’ve heard since 1972 to present 2014 . I’ve heard a lot of music all these years , all genres , and some things about this song really move me . When I was young this melody helped me on the assembly line at G.M. Now I’m older and I still love to hear this song every now and then . I can imagine riding a white horse through life with this . This would be a great wedding song ! You can do so much with a melody like this because it’s beautiful and powerful . A free spirited song !
I wrote a paean in the form of a sonnet about this album:
Imagine everything that’s positive
About the universe, sublime beyond
Measure, beyond every superlative,
Expressed in music so awesome, each song
So infinitely beautiful, you swoon.
A boon of overflowing joy, Devotion’s
Euphoria sends you over the moon –
Empyrean guitar suffused with oceans
Of bliss, McLaughlin’s tone like diamond whose
Kaleidoscopic iridescence takes
One to divine places and the band’s grooves
So exquisite, the dance of God, it makes
One thankful for such sounds sent from above
A paragon of ineffable love.
John when you play at UCLA please dedicate and play Marbles for our friend Buddy Miles..Buddy told that he really wanted to do another session with you before he passed away.. Ray Spitzer Long Beach Ca.
